C300: How would you ship a C300 to Canon Service?

I'm in Australia and feeling a little nervous about sending a $14000 camera by post. I cannot get it insured for that amount so what do most people do when sending it in for service when living a long way?

I carry business equipment insurance on my equipment for all loss on property or not. As far as shipping the best option is a pelican case, the cheapest would be the box it came in.

I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that my home owner's insurance covers my equipment for all loss on property or not up to 20% of the insured value of the contents of my home. I was able to pay a couple of hundred dollars more each year to raise the value of my contents to a level that 20% would cover full replacement of my location C100 package.

Folks might want to check their individual policies, as many home owners will not cover business gear.

I had my insurance agent add a business rider to cover all my gear, building, valuable papers & records, loss of income, Liability, and such. It sure would suck if you had $250,000 in gear go up in flames and not be covered.

Absolutely! And I should have added that I work out of my house. But with my particular policy, anything that's contained in my house is covered and anything that is "on location" that was contained in my house is covered up to 20% of the total contents coverage. My agent verified this when I inquired about business insurance on my gear.

I also had to get separate commercial insurance for my gear/liability (both when I'm at home, or traveling with it, etc).
Mine is about $1000/yr, but definitely worth it.

If you ship with a pelican case you can put a padlock on it as well (e-mail canon the combo or mail them the key separately? haha)

1) I don't have a Pelican case
2) How does house contents insurance cover shipping?
3) I was asking about SHIPPING

Thanks anyway.....
