How To Update Firmware HVX200

I downloaded the file from Panasonic's site in Windows, and copied it to a camera formatted SD card.

Then I check the manual and it says to go here:

https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/

for instructions on how to complete the update.

Problem is there are no instructions.

Moreover, using Safari often does not produce a web page.

Is there some one out there that might explain the process once the firmware file is on the SD card and the camera is powered by AC?

Thank you

Any idea what the firmware update updates?

Can they make it any harder for a Mac user to try and even get the zipped file to put on a SD card? Sheesh.

Usually not all the fixes are listed, Kevin. Many times there are other changes that only the Factory and authorized facilities know about.

True.
But until someone tells me that the picture quality or something is improved. I'll stick with what's workin for me. :)

One thing I would do differently from what is recommended in that document is that I would rather use a battery that is fully charged and known to be good than use AC power.

AC power fails more often than a good battery -- having a blackout or brownout during a firmware update or some other critical operation can be disasterous.

Again, Panasonic decides to leave Macintosh users out of the loop.

It is a little frustrated to experience the marginalization of a platform that constitutes half of the installed base of the Panasonic HVX200.
There is nothing about the firmware update that prevents you from doing it with a Mac. All you need is a card reader that lets you copy the files in the ZIP file (which a Mac can open) to an SD card -- everything else is done using the camera, including formatting the SD card if needed.

I agree 100%.

BTW, have you noticed any image quality improvement ?

thanks

Does Panasonic have the original firmware available for download? And if so, would it be possible to load an older version over the new one?

If so, I think there would be much less fear of trying the new firmware, if one could rollback to the old one.

I'll be updating this weekend nonetheless, and will report back any differences I encounter.
