I am filming some special effects tomorrow for a film project and I am going to use a green screen. I've already followed all the tutorials for lighting the screen and editing in FCP. However, I haven't seen anything out there on camera setup. Does anyone know any settings I can use on the camera (canon xh a1) to get the best shot? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use lowest gain possible. Avoid noise at all costs.

Depending upon what and how you're shooting, consider 30p rather than 24p.

Keep in mind that subject matter that is larger in the frame will key better.

Keep subject matter in focus as much as possible.

You can use the cameras zebra effect to check the evenness of your lighting. Shoot in hd if you have the option even if your delivering in sd.

The camaera settings are far less important than the lighting component. And the relative distance of the subject to the screen. Give yourself the largest distance possible between the subject and screen 10-15 feet a minimum. Make sure your screen is about 1 stop exposed below the subject (that means darker by one stop).
