Hi! I have the HVX for about 1 year now - some might know me from this or another forum....
Today I was triying for the very first time to record directly from HVX to PC without a P2 card in HD modus.
It didn't work and that's what might be the reason:
- I tried via P2-Viewer without really knowing what I do, just because some told me that it was possible to record onto P2-Viewer... I just didn't know what to select there, what to click onto...
- btw. I studied Barry's book and the HVX manual but both don't enter so much into detail (still a fantastic book, Barry
)
- camera was always set on 1080i50 because I wanted to start with the format that will be easiest to support from either software...
- camera was set on 1394host (can I by chance format the HD like that without wanting?? - that's very scary...) but I also set it on 1394device and once even on USB...
- Firewire was always properly connected as WinXP told me...
- USB won't work I think but I tried it anyway...
- as NLE I tried Liquid 7.2 with "Live" mode where I selected "Liquid IEEE1394" as source (no other selection possible unless "no")
- I could see a picture in live-mode in Liquid but only in SD mode and even SD was not possible to record... and as soon as I switched to 1080i50, Liquid says "no device connected" and picture stays black...
- camera setting for 1394 control was on EXT and I tried also BOTH
- concerning the 1394 CMD SEL I tried both and kept pressing REC for all tries, without knowing wheter you really have to press REC or whether you would press REC either on Liquid or P2-Viewer to start recording...
If record via P2-Viewer is NOT possible (as some told me), it should work at least via live logging in Liquid 7.2 (1080i50 etc. from P2 is supported).
It must be the settings, as the PC recognizes the camera, but Liquid doesn't (not in HD... but as I said: I get the live picture in SD, so camera settings can't be that wrong either, but I can'r record SD nor get a connection in HD).
I simply want to try to record HD directly onto PC (no, I don't have DV Rack HD) and I wonder: HOW can I do this?
