Re: How to post your frame grabs

Just use avid and export a screen shot. Or just print screen when looking at your footage..

Re: How to post your frame grabs

yes most editors will alow you to export a frame from the preview window, if you are using Vegas for example, make sure the quality of the preview is set to best so you get the best looking export.

For Premiere:

1. Move your timeline marker to the location where you would like to export a still. Look fore or back a few frames if the current frame has too many artifacts.
2. Select the menu items File->Export Timeline->Frame
3. Click the "Settings..." button in the dialog.
4. Select output image format and adjust and other settings.
5. Close the settings dialog.
6. Give a name to the image and save it.

Note, my version of Premiere (v6.5) does not support jpg output which is the popular format for posting. You will need to output Windows bmp or tiff and then convert to jpg.

Re: How to post your frame grabs

What's the best way to get frame grabs on a Mac using FCP 4.1? I have used a Mac utility called "Grab" to select and copy frames from the Quicktime file while it is paused, but the results have been disappointing after I've seen some of the really gorgeous images that people have posted here. Is there a way to export single frames from FCP?
thanks.

Re: How to post your frame grabs

To grab clips from FCP 4 or HD...

-Use your timeline marker to find the frame you want to export. Pause the marker.

-Click File>Export>Quicktime Conversion

-A "Save" dialog box will appear

-There are two selection menus near the bottom of the "Save" box.
-Format
-Use

-Click the format menu and select "Still Image" and click "options" to the right of the menu.

-In this menu you have a list of formats to choose from. Select your format. Keep your frames per second text space blank.

-Press OK

-Save the picture to your drive.

-Upload to DVXuser.com

Hope those directions helped.

Re: How to post your frame grabs

It was moved from the "Screen Grabs / Clips of DVX footage" section. I think it might be more helpful there as it shows users how to post their frame grabs in that section.

Re: How to post your frame grabs

Yeah, if I didn't add this comment, it was about to slip to the second page in this thread which would make it even more difficult to find.

Include it with the image tag: [ img]url of your image (e.g. http://whatever.com/image.jpg)[ /img]

Don't include the white space before img. I just did that because it would try to include an image.

All the best

Fidel.
