ALL: How to name clips in sequence

Is there a way to have the numbering of the clips continue from one card to the next when in relay mode instead of the second card starting at 00000.MTS again? It gets confusing on the timeline when editing. Thanks!

Yes indeed and not just only over dual slots!! I have often had to rename files because I have a very long wedding and used a 2nd card during the reception (which means I ended up with 0000.mts to 00135.MTS and then back to 0000.MTS on the 2nd card.

Chris?? If it helps you any, Sony Vegas will happily accept clips with the same name!!! So in project media you CAN have 0000.mts from one camera and then 0000.mts from a second camera and despite having the same file name they still remain intact and independent on the timeline and there is no interaction ... usually the thumbnails are good enough to identify the clips apart unless, of course you are ruuning one camera left and one camera right..then it's tough!!! I do put my clips into their own folders to keep me sane like "CamA" and "CamB"

Thanks Chris, but it doesn't help me re Vegas...because I use Gearshift and that is going to throw a curve when it sees two different clips with the same name.

Hey Chris

Gearshift is really a pain so why not transcode the files direct with Upshift and put files with the same name in a different folder ... Gearshift still needs to create proxy files anyway..when I was edited on Duocore I just used to let Upshift do it's thing while I watched TV or had dinner. The end result 50 mbps MPEG files work fine in Vegas directly and also Vegas will not squawk about same name files either... BIG PLUS is that the new files from Upshift will match your 2nd Sony Camera files perfectly too!!!!

Once you get an i7 machine you will be astounded as your render speed so if time is your enemy, this will save you a huge amount!!! Firstly no transcoding is needed (or proxy situations) and secondly you can render a 1920x1080 raw AVCHD clip to MPEG2 SD in little more than 1/3rd real time ...that's fast!!! My DuoCore used to take something like 8 times with AVCHD so a 10 minute clips would take 80 minutes to render...on the i7 I render a 10 minute clip in just over 3 minutes!!!! The difference time wise is truely staggering!!!
