C300: How to mount and balance C300 II and C200 on the Ronin-M

The C300 II with the somewhat heavy Canon 24-70 F2.8 II easily balanced on the Ronin-M using the extensions (lens is centered on tilt & roll axis'). Didn't change height or lateral adjustments from the 1DX II settings. Just mounted camera to stock Ronin plate as far forward as possible:

In order to get more up/down tilt clearance from the viewfinder (I didn't need to remove eye cup for simple stable, level walking), would need to mount even farther forward and then use counter weights. The Ronin-M can even handle the heavier F55, so mass vs. motors isn't an issue.

The C300 II (and thus C200) easily works on the Ronin-M. The C300 II needs the extensions (which I easily balanced), and to get more tilt range, use a longer plate and counter weights: http://www.danielhaggett.com/blog/249-does-the-c300-mark-ii-work-on-the-ronin-m . You can see in his example, the camera sits up high: using the extension rods will get the tilt & roll axis more centered to the lens center, which will improve stabilization performance.
His example footage (I suspect could be better if he used the extension rods and/or walked smoother. Slomo on a gimbal 100% of the time? Can hide minor gimbal issues...):

If you just need stable, level footage, the extension rods by themselves are all that's needed for the C300 II (would need to see a C200 mounted on the Ronin-M to see if extension rods can help with balance (get lens centered to roll & pitch axis')).

For folks having trouble getting super-stable footage, have you installed the app on your smartphone to auto fine-tune the system? Makes a huge difference in final quality!

Even with strong arms, your back's going to get a nice workout- a steadicam arm with gimbal mount or overhead hanging system will be needed for anything more than short takes. Expensive relative to Ronin-M ( https://cinemilled.com/product/ready-rig-gs-proarms/ + https://cinemilled.com/product/cinemilled-pro-ring-gimbal-system/ ), though provides not just support but jib-like moves too:

This is the lowest cost arm combo found so far: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...00_vao_syl_6000_stabilizatoin_system_arm.html, and https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1264069-REG/steadicam_sdm_nn_steadimate_arm_vest.html. In order to get the iPhone app to auto-optimize balance I did have to carefully balance the C300 II (vs. the first quick test using the 1DX II balanced position). Motor power was increased over what was needed for the 1DX II, and results were as expected: smoother.
