How to know what was shot...

I know, stupid question, but I don't normally use this camera and someone else shot the footage.

Once something has been shot, is there any way to know what format its in?

I know its 1080 HDV. My question is whether or not its 24p. Is there anything in the playback display to let me know?

Thanks,
Naveen

I haven't figured out anyway. And as far as I know, 60i and 24p are recorded exactly the same way. I guess visually is the best way. Unless it's shot at either 1/6th, 1/12th, 1/24th or 1/48th of a second shutter speed, if it is shot at any of these shutter speeds, it's garunteed to be 24p. You can check by setting to "PLAY" press "FUNC.", go down to "MENU", press joystick, go down to "DISPLAY SETUP", go right and down to either "DATE", "TIME" or "DATE & TIME" and clicking the joystick on it, then change it to "CAMERA DATA" by clicking on it. Now press "FUNC." again and play back your footage. You may have to press "DISP." a few times to get it to show up. Then it'll show your apperture and shutter speed in the lower right corner.

Take the camera, set it to 60i and shake your hand in front of it. Do the same with 24p. And you should be able to see which one your footage looks most like.

What do you need to know it for?

At least for the HV20 (I dont know about the HV30) I'm pretty sure if it's recorded HDV Widescreen, it will automatically be recording in 24p. So if its in SD or HDV standard then it should be at 60i
