How to increase bokeh effect?

Hi guys, I'm new to filmmaking and got myself a canon 550d and a Tamron 17-55 f2.8 (Heard its great for videos) however the depth of field / bokeh effect isn't enough for me. I'm shooting music videos in a relatively smallish room and can't get my subject miles away from the rear wall. Are there any settings I can adjust to increase the bokeh effect at all or am I stuck? :undecided

Open up the iris more. If f/2.8 isn't getting the job done, buy a lens that opens up to f/1.4.

Yeah I set the aperture to f2.8 didn't give me enough bokeh. will be disappointing could have a Lens I won't use at all if nothing else can be done :( I did buy it when I was a bit of a newbie because the kit lens wasn't giving me enough I assumed f2.8 would.

If you can't alter the scene (introdicing greater separation from the background), then tighter shots (a smaller part of the subject fills the frame) are the most important factor. Followed by sensor size and lens aperture.
