C100: How to get the DAF Upgrade in Europe - the answer.

I finally gotten over my "but I´ve never used AF ever" resentment and wanted to go ahead, thinking there´s probably a Canon service center in my city or one of the broadcast sellers is certified to do it.
But: Nope.

All mainland (UK I don´t know) European upgrades seem to be done in Willich,Germany somewhere in the middle of nowhere.


Since it took me several calls and being redirected back and forth to get the right info on how and where to upgrade, I thought I just post it here:


The number to call is:

Price: 400€ plus VAT

You need to include a letter, saying you want the DAF upgrade to be done - that seems to be all.
I guess they´ll send me an invoice...

No Email communication, on the phone the told me to "Just put it in a box and send it to us...".
Well, I did (insured up to 25000€ of course) and today got the confirmation (via Email, I included mine in my letter...), they received the parcel.

That´s the address it was sent from, so maybe if you´re not from Germany, better write them first.

So, if some non-german DVXuser uses this info and all works out, maybe post here to verify the process.

i sent mine once for service and it was free shipping , i had to bring it to my local canon service and they packed it and sent it to finland i believe..... so i payed nothing at all.... they cleaned it, did a sensor check, upgraded the internal battery, and installed some dust filters. payed nothing at all! took them 1 week total.

do u know that you can buy EXTENDED WARRANTY for the extra 2 years in europe?

Hm, you just had the C100 serviced and not upgraded, right? Maybe its just the DAF Upgrade that can´t be made in every Canon service center. Anyhow, this is meant as a place to collect answers, so I still hope other Euros chime in and share their links.
 
Spartacus, who did you ship the camera with? I got a quote from DHL in Austria that was almost as much as the cost of the upgrade.
 
From Holland the DAF upgrade is done by the cps facility in germany mentioned by the OP

You can bring/send it to cps holland and they will send it to Willich and back to you but it will take some time.
It's faster to send it to Willich your self.
Even faster is it to bring it to Willich and have them send it back to you, i got mine back in Amsterdam in 2 days with free shipping.

From cps holland i heard that the shipping costs from holland to Willich was 14 euro.
They used UPS standard shipping.

DHL, ensured up to 25000€. Was around 25€. Send on Thursday afternoon, came back Tuesday the following week. Not bad. But makes me wonder what they really do to the camera, while there;)

Wow, DHL Austria are quoting 160 Euro!
