I'm doing a video for a competition and was given this Actors Release Form for everyone to sign. Can someone read through this and let me know what goes on each line? I was told my company's name but I want to double check since its the first time I'm doing this.
Hey, I don't want to seem rude, but did you read it? It's very straightforward, a standard release form. Basically whoever shoots whoever owns that footage and can do whatever they want with it and the subject can not. It's not legalese.
Perhaps your confusion lies in the word "the" just before every line where the name of the copyright owner of your picture goes. You could easily fill these in to read something like "the below named Producer" and then fill in the name of the producer once in the box at the bottom of the form. This could be anything from your personal name if you will hold the copyright , to "Sony Pictures Entertainment" if you've presold the whole thing <g>. Only difference is line two where you insert the working title of the production.
Release for anyone under 18 in the USA MUST include signature of parent or legal guardian also.
"Producer" is the person entitled to the copyright. It could be yourself, another individual, or any business entity - partnership, corporation whatever that's entitled to the ownership of the work being created.
