How to Edit then Present on a television

Good day

I have a couple scenarios I need help with from (obviously) someone more in-the-know.

Got Barry's book but it didn't touch on it.

I have an HMC-150 and would enjoy watching my HD projects on my big screen. Without a BD burner (yet), there's only a couple of ways to do so.

Render to <x>, copy to SDHC card, insert into camera, cable camera to TV, and play, or Render to <y>, copy to SDHC card, insert into my Panasonic BD Player, and play.

The biggest issue I see first is that neither the camera nor the player recognizes any of the several video file type I've rendered to then copied to the card (in the root directory). Without the other data on the card, neither the camera nor the BD player see my finished video file.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Consider picking up a WD-TV. It's a tiny media player, $100 US and accepts any virtually media files (including raw AVCHD) without skipping. I have one and love it to death.

Input: 2x USB ports (thumb drive, hard drive, SD adapter)
Output: Composite, HDMI, SPDIF

Render out an AVCHD disc, and play that in your blu-ray player.

It's a blu-ray-compatible disc format, but authored to regular red-laser discs. Only real difference is the amount of footage you can fit; because the DVD-R is so much smaller capacity than a blu-ray BD-R, you can't fit as much footage; you get about 20 minutes on a single-layer or 40 minutes on a dual-layer.

So, what are the routes to avchd on regular dvd again? I'm all cs3. I feel like the donkey getting led around by a carrot on a stick. Please say there is a way to do this without shelling out for another Adobe upgrade.

To the OP.

Mac or PC? What editing system?

These will enable some of us to suggest a workflow.

Oops, yea, that might help. PC, Sony Vegas Pro 9.

Update on it all. I followed instructions for Vegas to create a Blu Ray disc on a DVD-R (still kinda lost on that whole thing) and no workie. Followed other instructions found searching around using Nero and UDF file structure, still no go. Panasonic Blu Ray player states "Incompatible Disc" and that's the end of the story.

The manual for the player states that DVD-R media AVCHD Discs will play, but I sure can't figure out how and the Japanenglish doesn't help. Tried -R, +R, +RW to no avail, still same error.

Okay, this may be a really stupid question, but is it possible to export a master HD quicktime (via H.264 codec), save the resulting mp4 on the SD card, put the SD card in the camera, and Playback via HDMI to a big screen? I realize the odds of that being possible, are slim, but I figure it can't hurt to ask...

Also, my girlfriend's pansonic HDTV has an SD card slot in it. Could I just save the master quicktime on the SD card, insert it into the TV directly, and playback the quicktime? Or, would the TV have no idea how to do that...

Edit:
Or, I could just screw this crap and by the WD-TV. I've been checking it out online. This thing looks sick...much cheaper than an apple tv.

its cheaper than apple tv for one because it doesnt include any internal storage and two because it does not have wifi etc. but it will play your h.264 files and also will play all of your 150 files from your card/card reader. its a good investment IMO.

If you author the file as a quicktime file, no chance. If you author it out as an AVCHD disc image from your DVD authoring app, it should work. Don't know the exact procedure, but it should be possible.

Probably not, you'd probably be in the same situation as above.

I figured. Thanks, Barry.
