How to Control Aperture on Tokina 11-16mm Nikon

I have a set of Nikon AI lenses and need an ultra-wide lens, decided to go with Tokina 11-16mm. But I do not want to get the Canon mount because then the focus ring will move in the opposite direction of all my other lenses on my RR follow focus. But if I go Nikon Tokina, what solutions do I have for controlling aperture on the lens when there is no manual aperture ring?

I think your options are slim to none. Since the Canon can't control the aperture, it will default to the highest setting.

I do recall seeing a minor solution using a q-tip in one of the threads in here, but it's not going to give you the usability you want.

Is it that big of a deal if the ring moves in the opposite direction? Also, I haven't used the RR follow focus, but is there a way to reverse the turn?

I own a 11-16 nikon mount and used it on a 7d for 5 months now.

The trick is to get a Q-tip (cottonbud in the UK) and cut the heads off. The stem length should only be about 8-10mm long. There is a lever on the back of the lens that controls the aperture and it moves in a groove. Place the stem vertically into the groove, its a snug fit and will hold the lever firmly with no chance of the stem falling out. Position it so it keeps the aperture wide open or close to wide open then use ISO adjustments to get exposure.
