How to connect GH2 with external monitor(Ipad2 ) by HDMI to HDMI
I have all the adapters set but I don't see anything in my iPad ?
Why ? do I have to have an app. ?
I there anything I have to set in settings in gh2 or Ipad2 ?
Please let me know
Thanks so much :)

Hi,
Your iPad cannot input video through the adaptor, it can only output to a TV. What you try to attempt is NOT possible.
Sorry.

Currently as far as I know, you can't really do this with an ipad. However, android tablets support live view over a usb connection thanks to a beta app called usb camera.

I haven't tried it yet, but the review video I saw looks promising... 15fps preview and remote camera control!

GH2 dosent support live video output through USB at the moment. The iPad's HDMI adaptors only transmit as far as I know, so you cannot stream into the iPad.
You will have to look into some of these off brand tablets that could possibly offer HDMI input, or some tablets that can use an express card which offers capturing from HDMI.

A better idea is it use a wireless wi-fi connection. Also, Are you planning to do this as a field monitor to do focus and exposure? Or a directors monitor?

This is correct, actually. Upon closer inspection, even the Android app that I mentioned above only works with Canon EOS cameras (since they support live view and remote control with their desktop interface, and I suppose that's what the app is accessing). Either way, the OP wants GH2 + iPad, and since my solution only works with Canon + Android, I guess I'm way off here. ;)

The problem with those wireless video transmitters is that it requires a very pricey hardware transmitter to attach to your hdmi and send the encoded video to your wireless network (which can then be picked up by any device capable of playing internet video streams, including an iPad). The cost of such a setup usually exceeds a half decent field monitor, and said field monitor would likely yield better results.

Also, I may be wrong about this (I hope I am), but I'm under the impression that the iPad requires a wireless network to connect to. Unless these wifi video transmitters support ad-hoc peer-to-peer networks (ie. without a router nearby to connect), this could prove to be a very frustrating thing to set up in the field. A direct cable connection is the best, IMO, however since the GH2 does not support USB video monitoring, and the iPad does not support video inputs, this whole project seems more trouble than its worth.
