how to allocate payment for colorist and sound mixer?

I just finished an indy feature and am now hiring a colorist and sound mixer.
Both individuals live out of town. Curious how other filmmakers allocated those payments fairly?

ya know - I thought maybe I wasn't being clear - thanks for asking.
What I meant - since both these individuals are out of town - and I don't know them personally and will not be meeting them personally - what would be a fair way of paying them for their work?
Half up front half - the other half when they deliver, etc. I was curious to hear from other colorist or sound mixers if they were working in this situation how they would expect to be paid.
Hope that's clearer :)
 
You'll need to work this out with both the colorist and mixer directly. It's not unusual for them to request non refundable deposits and require full payment before delivery.
