How passable is the built-in mic on the LX 100?

I wanted to know how good the built-in mic on the LX 100 is? Is it as good as the built-in mic on the GH2? Is there any footage on YouTube etc of people being interviewed/talking on the LX 100? This will give me a better idea on what the sound quality is really like. Pity there is no external jack.

One can assume, with 100% certainty, that it isn't very good. No camera's bullt-in mic is passable for interviews or other dialog. Even an external mic mounted on top of the camera is only marginally better, simply because clear dialog is very much about the proximity of the mic to the source.

This is one of those cases where second-system is the only guarantee for usable sound.

I'd never use it for picking up the subject, but when I talk while shooting with it, the audio is very good, probably because the mic is on top and a few inches away from me.

I think the on-camera mic is useful if the local source is loud - concerts, an announcer, loud crowds, things like that. Picking up the "general" sound of what you were hearing.

A guy on the BMCUSER forum did a bunch of comparison videos with the LX100 in them - if you can find those, they are a good place to ask this question.
