C100: how much would you pay for a hardware upgrade? 60P

Just a curiosity, and let me be clear that there is NO indication of this ever happening, so don't blow this out of proportion:

If it were possible, how much would you pay canon to hardware upgrade your c100/300 to the newer digic chip? currently it's the digic dv 4 or digic 6. both capable of 1080/60p and other claims of overall improvement.

i'm not particularly in need of slow mo, but i would use it if it were available. wondering, would you pay.... $500? $1000?

and please, no negative nancyisms, this is a simple, what if, regardless of practicality. Could give canon and other makers an insight as to how much people value higher frame rates.

Its acceptable, IMO.
Agreed, I was worried about the drop in resolution but I just finished up a video where the majority of shots were 50i slowed down on a 25p timeline, I've viewed it on a 50 something inch tv and honestly I can't tell the difference between the slowed down footage and the regular 25p. If you zoom in 400% then you will see a difference, so my advice is don't do that, ignorance is bliss.

To answer your original question, $0.

2k give me 422, 120fps, c300 viewfinder

or 1k give me 422 + c300 viewfinder

or 1k give me at least 10 bit raw even with external recorder

in fact, for me, give me 120fps or nothing. 60p is not that important to me. I need ultra-slomo, or no slomo !

I shoot with C300. Give me 100fps in 1080 recorded internally to CF cards. Not sure how much extra I will pay. I will be ok paying 1 k USD or slightly higher. :)

everything you guys are asking for in 1080/60p involves a whole new processor. The C line uses DV Digic III. Until you see DV Digic IV keep dreaming. No matter how much your willing to pay for the upgrade. Want SDI and the viewfinder of the C300 on the C100, then buy the C300 (you would get the codec too).

I just took this shot through the windshield shot with avchd on an overcast stormy day from this:

to this with some contrast and then film convert all in FCPX:

and it held up just fine.

If you "want" (not need) higher specs like codec, viewfinders, frame rates, DR, etc...Buy it the first time and don't rely on paid upgrades. Canon will build another camera before they offer you a viewfinder replacement on the C100.

In all fairness, the OP did state:
"Just a curiosity, .. NO indication of this ever happening, so don't blow this out of proportion:If it were possible,..."

For all the defense of the C300 price and virtues, and then taking into account how much a proper EVF and codec costs, seeeeems like the C100 could have at least a better EVF. (but Canon is in a business, and I don't begrudge them that, since no one else is really doing all together better). But when everything is factored in, and I mean the big picture here, not just a specs sheet, the C100 is in a sweet spot. I'd only jump if I needed it, and I do not. I'd pay an extra $500 for a slightly better EVF. I'd rent a separate cam for good slomo, but full native res at 48fps should be a minimum standard on anything with a cinema badge.

I am seeing some lo-fi banding, is this the additional compression of the stills upload? - Thanks
