How many hours do you put on your HVX, and do I put "too little" on mine?

I have had my HVX200 for exactly one year now. I have 117H on the hour meter (which my understanding is, this is for use on the TAPE heads) and 235H on operation.

However, my P2 timecode counter shows I have 18 hours of recorded material to P2 card (which seems about right); and I have about 30 miniDV tapes that I have recorded to that are full or mostly full... meaning about 48 hours of actual recorded material...

FIRST - do these numbers sound right as far as how the camera is counting VS hours of recorded footage, etc?

SECOND - is this pretty little usage? Do most people get a lot more usage out of the camera for a year?

Depends on how much you shoot, I shoot almost once or twice a week (for an entire day) so I have over 300 hours clocked on my HVX since october

2000h in 2 years and one week of ownership. Most P2 I shot in a day: 10 hours. Most in a week: 40 hours. I'm hoping to have the camera for a few more years and see how many glitch free records I could have.

Hours...

Hours...

What has everyone else put on their camera in however much time (ie, post up 500h in 1.3 years) etc.

I've had the HVX for about 10 months and have 245/145 hrs, mostly on DV. Since I got a pair of 16gig cards, I've shot the last 40 hrs or so in 720pn.

It depends more on the quality of shooting and the $$$ returned. I hardly shoot the BVW-D600 anymore with more and more requests for the HVX.

I'm not sure there's any such thing as "too much" or "too little." It's all about what your personal goals are. Comparing yourself to what other people do probably isn't very meaningful -- everyone has different goals and needs.

Wouldn't that depend on what your business requirements are and how much footage that you needed to shoot?

Not certain how anyone can answer this question.

We shoot we need. Sometimes, it's busy; other times it isn't.

But nothing is too little or too much
