how many have the strap on the gh2

I find the strap hideously uncomfortable.
Bangs against my chest when I walk.
It gets in the way. It's just an annoyance.

If I need to carry the camera I use a small case with a shoulder strap.

If I want the camera in my hand, I use an optech wriststrap.
I find it more comfortable, more secure.

+1

I hate straps. I get the same amount of security for the camera and a lot less interference with my shooting with a small "Panasonic" branded camera bag from Hong Kong with a shoulder strap like this one for $13.80 from eBay.

It's pretty small -- only big enough for the GH2, the 14-140 and a pancake -- but that makes it small enough that I pretty much carry it everywhere.

As a backup, I'm taking Chauncy's advice and getting a $7.95 OP/TECH wrist strap.

A few years ago I am out shooting with my favorite cam at the time a Panny GS 300. I LOVED that cam, sweet little thing.

Anyways, the day after my monopod and cam (lens first) hit the floor, I put lanyards on EVERYTHING.

They look dumb as heck but not EVER going to need a broom to sweep another cam up again !!!

Listen there is no right or wrong answer. I can heard the pride when people say I don't use a strap. Its like saying I'm so strong and cool I don't need a seat belt. If that is how you feel then good for you. The GH2 strap is a horrid item, its narrow and cuts into the neck. When I walk about I have a strap which is a broad neoprene item made in China. it cost around $5 on Ebay and its better than my custom made leather one that cost $180. I was in Santa Monica last weekend and I saw a girl crying, it turns out she dropped her camera into the water below the pier. A wrist strap or neck strap could have avoid all her tears. Who wouldn't cry if you dropped your GH2 into an ocean and you save up for it?

Also with the 14-140mm lens the GH2 is a touching 1kg, walk around for 5 hours and just see how heavy that sucker feels with your 3 finger grip.

Never use strap.

Never use strap.

I highly recommend NOT using the Strap on any video or photo camera ever. The reason why is that it has led to the demise of some great cameras. Twice I've had the camera jerked away and crash to the ground, destroyed. Once i was just walking by and a stray nail in the wall grabbed the strap and jerked the camera out of my hands before i even knew what happened. Same thing happened again years later with another cam; the strap getting hung on another piece of gear on a table. I don't care how careful you think you are, no once can be conscientiously aware during a shooting situation of what your strap might hook onto when your moving. Unless maybe you always have it on your neck, that would be safe.

Can somebody please invent a GH1 and GH2 battery grip that isn't really a battery grip, but an XLR interface....now that would sell bucketloads!

but on the subject of straps, i bought the BlackRapid RS-7 after one of the straplocks broke off my GH1. The RS-7 is a but frustrating to use in my opinion, but i like the attachment point in the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera body. My problem with it is it's a bit stiff around the shoulder, and when i raise the camera up to shoot something, the strap falls right off my shoulder. I made all the necessary adjustments to allow the camera to slide up and down the strap as i use the camera, and that part works fine. There's just not enough weight on the shoulderpad itself to keep it hanging on my shoulder while i take a picture. But overall, i like it, and it's made very well, but it could be more secure. That's it for now. Hope that helps.

No more straps for me, this fixes all the handling issues. $20 in plumbers store, an old tripod head and one hour of your time time. I even cut the damn strap lugs off.

It's amazing how well this simple rig works, even removing one hand to focus/trigger shutter etc, the rig stays steady.

Chuck those straps away ....!!!!

How do you strapless guys change lenses when walking about? I carry lots of accessories in a messenger bag in which I have to search for items at times. I rest the camera body under my arm as I remove and replace lenses and filters.

I think this boils down two ways. You either have a rig and don't need a strap or your a nature or weeding photographer and your going to be walking around all day with the camera in your hands. You just can't get a Yes no answer, just like Politics :-)
