How is the HV20 with a Rode VideoMic as a audio source when shooting with a T2i

Don't have cash for an H4n and would rather wait until the release of Magic Lantern. I have an HV20, so would you recommend I connect my Videomic to that to capture audio. I haven't used it in so long, so idk how crisp it sounds (I dont have it on hand for a couple days, otherwise I would have tried myself).

Or would you recommend connecting the videomic to my macbook and use Quicktime to record?

Funny you put this up, I'm about to talk to someone about a gig where I'll use my HFS100 to record the audio, and a t2i for the video. I'm hoping this will work well enough for now.

Laptops generally have lots of audio interference; I used to capture with an Inspiron 5150, decent mic, and an Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA card; with the laptop plugged in, the onboard audio caught all the interference; on battery you could hear it too. The Audigy captured audio perfectly in 24 bit 48khz with NO interference.

I still use the laptop/Audigy/Mic combo on occasion, but prefer to record audio and video with an XHA1 and ditch the video when capturing audio for the T2i units. All it takes to sync is clapping your hands in the video 3-4 times.

Yeah, if you don't have a separate audio interface for your laptop, it probably is not a good option for recording sound.
