GH2 is the camera I

Around 18:23 in the video, they are interviewing the guys that are operating GH2. They show a scene where GH2 guys are talking about color correction. Look at the exact location of the actors

There is no mystery. Lots of people posting here know exactly which camera is which but we're not posting that because it spoils it for everyone.

The whole point of the test is for people to look at the shots without thinking about which camera is which, and just say which shots they like best.

(Though I agree with those who say making people wait a whole month for the reveal is harsh. At the screening we had to wait about 15 minutes between seeing the tests and the reveal and that was long enough!)
 
nathankw, are you sure Zacuto didn't change the lettering for the web version? I would guess the lettering is different on the web from the one they showed at screening.

This matches pretty close to camera F

(slight differences but there are other similarities if you watch 5:27 to 5:31 part and compare it to clip F)


I am sure camera F is F65 or Alexa

Damn, I don't have my paper with me. But I think I picked "I" as one of my ok shots. I categorized them as Like, Ok and Dislike.
I remember that A, B, F and H were on my Like list. C, E, and D were on my Dislike list. I think G was in my Ok list.
 
I put "Good" for letter I which puts it in the middle to upper section for me. But the images went by pretty fast and I was trying to capture inital impressions rather than pixel peeping.

If the GH2 is "I", the shadows look pretty good compared to the letter "F" shown here. Great performance from the $900 wonder.
 
As someone else pointed out, the real shots were taken with crane. So take this one back

They could have pulled a bait and switch with that first one. At least with the second one you see the camera in the shot and can match that directly to the scene. With the first image they could have easily just shown a take of them grading a completely different camera's footage just in case someone did this exact thing.

Yes, they could have. I am not sure they are this smart :) The noise in the scene just after and before look similar. I think they just took the colorist shot from the same sequence of shots while shooting GH2 operators.. We will find out, but from a month from now (which is silly amount of delay).
 
The only thing this shootout really proves (and what I think is their point), is that if you light and shoot in a manner optimized for the camera you are working with, the camera is virtually a non-issue today. That said, I think it is very healthy to ask us to look at what we like image wise without the expectations and prejudices we automatically bring to the table surrounding a cameras name or price. Playing detective to "figure it out" based on any other peripheral information is really a bit silly and beside the point in this regard.

Exactly .. to each his own own. I wan t the results now! A month wait? Pffff

I now don't think I is GH2 .. it's probably B
 
My only real guess is that D would be the Epic. I assume that stuttery motion is due to the dual exposure with the two different shutters. But it's quite contrasty so i dunno.

On second thought, the shot has virtually infinite Depth of field, so my vote is that D is the iphone. ( there is an iphone right? )

My guess is that the GH2 is camera G. Slightly different focal length ( tighter ), depth of field seems slightly larger. And if I'm correct, i'll also go out and guess that they shot with Cinema profile due to the highlight handling on the house backdrop. A and F are definitely my favourite. B and D being my last favourite and the rest have their own appeal.

B and D were the only two images I outright disliked (mostly because they OVERemphasized Mr. Greenshirt and Ms. Chickenlegs with the lighting choices).

Everything else was more than serviceable.
 
Chicken legs? She has nice legs.

Anyways...my favorite in order are:

F, H, C, A, I, B, G, E, D

I'm dancing back and forth between F and H for first place. All subject to change btw.
