How does the RED handle low light and direct Sun?

We've seen all sorts of shots done on a stage with controlled lighting setups. Jim could you shoot some direct sun exteriors and some night exteriors so we can really se the lattitude of the mysterium chip. I hear all sorts of things about how you can dig out information in low light areas with lesser HD cameras. I'd like to see an example of what RED can do. You can still use hot chicks. We've seen the resolution color and crispness of the chip, now it's time for lattitude and base exposure!

I think this question has been raised many a time, each time the answer is same.. They will be conducting professional shoot outs when the camera is complete. Jim mentioned that they will be asking some top DP's to put the camera through the tests when they have a finished product.

All in good time. Weve been incredibly lucky to even see test footage before the camera is complete (thats unbelievable in my book, Reds PR Guy must not get much sleep).. So just sit it out until the red team are ready to blow you away. :D

We have obviously done some quick shooting of exteriors and night shots. We are thrilled with the results. But we have learned our lesson about posting shots that are not "all world" in every aspect. We won't publish any more "work in progress" shots unless they measure up to the closest scrutiny.

I do think we will post more shots in the next few weeks, but that is not our priority right now. We have a complex camera to build and finish. And we have a small team that is working 24/7 to accomplish that task. All I can say is that we have more to do than we have time.

Then I don't care about more "work in progress" shots. You need all the time in the world to finish the camera and that is what matters.

Just wish I could give you some extra hours per day... 28/7 9 days a week. :D

Can't wait for the first "real" footage though. With that price, I'm surprised if people aren't getting stunned by it.
