How does raylight work?

Does raylight convert MXF into AVI ,or just allows MXF to be used in Premierpro like AVI without converting?

It can do both! Amazing! :) If you have Ppro likely no reason to convert to AVI, just drop the MXF's into your bin and start cutting.

An AVI might be needed for AfterEffects or other applications.

Yeah, RayLight has really revolutionized the workflow for Vegas and Premiere users. You can edit straight off the card without having to convert. Or, if you've done a lot of offloads in the field, you can bring in 300 or 500 gigabytes of card data and just edit immediately instead of having to wait for all those files to be converted.
