How does DVX200 compare to Panasonic AG-UX180 4K Premium?

Two cards slots with independent triggers so that one card can record all the time and the other card just the pieces needed. If something is missed the card that records all the time will have it.

Ok, thanks.

:undecided Isn't it funny when you hear about features something has (just thing's in general, not necessarily a camera) and you can't work out if it's something you would or wouldn't use.

Look at body of UX90 and UX180 - DVX200 have more switches - so propably DVX200 are "faster-in-operation" than UX series... i've DVX200 - and this cam is enough for 90% of my jobs..... (for B-Cam i'm using Lumix G7+9-18mm, on EasyStab ONE, gimbal....) - maybe for C-Cam i'll purchase UX90 instead of UX180.... (btw. at this moment as C-Cams i'm using 2xFZ1000) - but for sure i'll wait for real tests of UX series.... they looks promising.... but the price of UX180 vs DVX200.... i'll purchase next DVX200... than UX180..... but maybe UX90 will be good enough for C-Cam....

Is 10 bit output confirmed for the UX180? The DVX200 is capable of that. I'm assuming yes since it would be crazy to give the camera SDI output and not give it 10 bit as well.

I'm not positive but I don't think SDI has 10bit, I think it's HDMI Only for 10Bit on the SDX200.

I was speaking more about the features. Basically if they are willing to offer one thing that's considered a professional feature such as DVI than they might as well have the camera output 10 bit 22 as well. Would almost be like giving a camcorder XLR inputs and not give it a viewfinder.

Now that it's September I though there would be a little more info on the AD-UX180 and 90. Has anybody seen any links to more details?

Does anyone have any info on the size of the UX-180 compared to the DVX-200?
Maybe someone who saw it at a showing?
I just saw a size comparation between the dvx-100 and the 200, and that instantly made me decide against buying the DVX-200.
The same happened when I had to choose between a hmc-151 and the AC-160. The HMC fit perfectly in hand, while the 160 was bulky, big and unhandy.
I reaaaally hope that UX-180 is more like the hmc in that regard..

From DVX-200 Brochure

181 mm (W) x 216 mm (H) x 374 mm (D) - (7-1/8 inches x 8-1/2 inches x 14-23/32 inches)
(excluding protrusion and eye cup)

From UX-180 Brochure

173 mm (W) x 195 mm (H) x 346 mm (D) - (6-13/16 inches x 7-11/16 inches x 13-5/8 inches)
(excluding protrusion and eye cup)

173 mm (W) x 195 mm (H) x 392 mm (D) - (6-13/16 inches x 7-11/16 inches x 15-7/16 inches)
(including eye cup, excluding protrusion)

UX-180 looks smaller than DVX-200

HMC40 is: Dimensions (WxHxD) 5.3 x 5.3 x 11.9" (13.6 x 13.5 x 30.4cm)
HMC-150 is: Dimensions (WxHxD) 6.06 x 6.46 x 15.63" (really 14" overall with excluding rubber eyecup)
AC90 is: Dimensions (WxHxD) 6.30 x 7.68 x 13.78" (16.0 x 19.5 x 35.0 cm) excluding protrusions
UX-180 is: Dimensions (WxHxD) 6.81 x 7.69 x 13.63"
AC130 is: Dimensions (WxHxD) 7 x 7.69 x 17.25" (18 x 19.5 x 43.8 cm) excluding protrusions
DVX-200 is: Dimensions (WxHxD) 7.13 x 8.5 x 14.72"

The UX-180 is big, but at least it's reasonable size.

Thanks a lot for the info!
It certainly seems smaller than the DVX-200, but still notably larger than the HMC-150 that I really love the size of.
I probably have to wait until I can find a model to feel in my hand. I had hoped to buy one through the net, as the models come late to Denmark where I am based, but size and ergonomics can be a dealbreaker for me.
If the size seems off, I might look at the sony PXW-Z150... Anyway, I am looking forward to when comparisons between those two cameras begin to come out.

If you look for Sony PXW-Z150, just a hint. Read carefully the manual before you buy it. There is a lot of limitations.

The obvious differences are UX180 has 20x zoom, iZoom to 30x in HD and records 50/60P UHD. Z150 is 12x zoom clear image 24 x in HD and only 30P in UHD. Codecs are different so that may sway your choice.

You really do need to see these cameras in person to see how big they appear. Those measurements in the brochures are not standardized in my opinion. What is a protrusion anyway? On the HMC-150 the measurement without protrusion included the floppy 1.2" of the eyecup. Anyway, IMO smaller is better.

Now that the September 7, UX-90 and 180 brochures and info release is out, Im pretty excited. The UX-90 might sell discounted just below the $2K USD mark. That's a lot of camera for $2K. The 180 has a lot more software and hardware features, but it's hard to justify the much higher price IF you dont need the features. I haven't figured out what game they are playing with the lens yet, but the longer 20X is major. The asterisked note on the wide end Im not sure about that either yet (28.5 vs. 28MM wide).

Pretty exciting time for Panasonic fans.
