How do you watch your video?

One of these D90s is coming for xmas. I am excited about its hi def video capability. One thing I was wondering is how do I watch my videos.

A: On my PC?
B: From the camera with an HDMI to my plazma tv?
C: Burn to a standard DVD
D: Burn to a Blu Ray DVD

Option A is ok for editing, but I'd like to put various clips together and play them on my 60 inch tv instead of my 20 inch monitor in my home office.

Option B is ok but it limits storage to the size of the san disk card, and I'd need to swap a lot of videos from the computer to the card when I wanted to watch something

Option C is ok but I don't think it is possible to burn Hi Def that plays as hi def via my blu ray player.

Option D Would be the best solution but would involve me buying a blu ray burner. Again, I am not sure if it is even possible to burn the video from the D90 to a bluray readable format.

Do how do you watch your videos?

Yes yes yes, so many options! I watch mine through a prism with my feet in a bucket of slugs.

hook up your computer to your tv, or get a tvix, or burn a bluray structure on a regular dvd. although i haven't tried it myself they say it works fine. or just burn the file on a data dvd and hope you have a player that supports it. either way you probably gotta keep the total bitrate below 10mbit since that's the max speed on a regular dvd. if you use h.264 that should be plenty for 720p. or if your tv and player support pal, burn 576p dvd's, those are almost as good as 720p especially if you have a good upscaler.

(wait, i just gave you more option, not fewer. sorry) :-)

On what? TV or computer monitor?

Has anyone tried burning to a dvd and playing on blu ray player? If so, how was the quality. To me, hi def is not really needed unless I can watch it on a hi def TV.

Maybe, I asked the question wrong.

Say you have an hour of Hidef video you want to show to a bunch of friends at a party. What method do you use? Have everyone gather around your computer, burn a blu ray dvd and pop it in your player, hook the camera to the TV and keep swapping san disk cards, give them a youtube adress they can go to when they get home?

Blu-ray burners actually aren't that expensive anymore, but you do have the option of burning Blu-ray data on a conventional DVD. It's called BD-5 and BD-9.
You will only have 4.5GB or 9GB (single-layer or double-layer), but the video can be encoded in 1080p using advanced codecs and played back by Blu-ray players.

and you left out whether or not you want the friends/family to see it in HD. If you don't care, burn it to dvd and watch the SD version. Or, just play it through your camera to your tv.

You can pretty much do A-D, depending on your equipment....it's your call.

Thanks Chris for a great answer. This is exactly what I needed to know.

Sorry for the seemingly dumb question but I don't have the camera yet and could not find the answer anywhere on the web since the camera is so new and there are not really any indepth reviews I could find.

Seems like a lot of jokers on this forum.

just burn a damn dvd already. that's a no-brainer.

Just drop the SD card to your PS3 if you have one to play the original files.
After editing, export to mpeg 2, or h264. All media players including the PS3 can play the files.

Thanks.

that was not a joke at all. you said that you don't care if it's hd and that you want to show it to a bunch of friends at a party. 99% of all people would know instantly what to do in that situation. btw i suggested burning a bluray structure on a regular dvd about a day before the other guy, so you're welcome.
