GH3 How do you turn off audio recording on the GH3?

I can't seem to figure it out. There are no menu options. I don't want it to record any audio.

Plug in a external mic, but don't turn on it's power.

Or just shoot off-speed.

Go to variable movie mode and shoot at 80%... it will be slightly slow-mo and won't record sound

can you turn the levels all the way down? If I don't want to record audio in something, I record audio then drop it in post.

Overcrank or undercrank.

You could always plug-in a 3.5mm audio plug into the GH3 mic socket, which should kill the internal mics from recording anything.

I always kill audio in post, but if it matters to you, this should be a simple fix.

So it looks like there is no way to turn off audio except plug something like a headphone jack into the mic socket?

There are some shots where you simply don't need audio. It wastes card space and takes more time to upload to servers, download from servers, etc.

You must be running the tightest of margins on mass amounts of footage for audio space and transfer of audio to be an issue.

I don't think that will ease your storage issue. The camera will still record an audio track, but with zero level.
