How do you shoot timelpase w/ the Af100?

Haven't had much time to shoot w/ my AF100, to which brought me to this question. I was curious as to how others are shooting timelapses? I'm not entirely too familiar with what setting(s) one would use for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

The Interval Recording feature is what lets you shoot timelapse. You set the interval between exposures, from as short as 1 every second to as long as 1 every 2 minutes.

Didn't know the AF100 had this feature...

I believe the shortest exposure the Canon C300 can do is one every 2 seconds.

One thing to keep in mind: When using Panasonic lenses to shoot timelapses, use manual exposure. If you use auto, exposure will not change smoothly as the sun goes behind a cloud, etc. It will abruptly jump.

It works pretty well and I've had good results shooting mainly clouds. For those cool traffic shots I prefer using a DSLR (GH2 or GH3) Dragging the shutter works better.

I shot this with the GH2.

And this spot with the AF-100

I need to shoot time lapse (interval recording) over a 20 hour period. How do I adjust the f-stop for exposure during the day and night? Does the camera automatically take care of this? I am using a Canon Zoom lens.

Thanks, that helps. By the way, would a Panasonic lens adjust the aperture? Or am I making this into too much of a big project. Is it not best to adjust manually since I am shooting 1 frame every 10 seconds?

A native m43 lens will automatically adjust the aperture if you tell the camera to go into auto-iris mode. So yes, a Panasonic (or Olympus or any other m43 lens) will do so -- unless it's a manual-only lens, like the Voigtlanders; they of course can't automatically adjust iris.

I shot this timelapse when I was in Mexico for a wedding. I just let it record the whole time as I wanted some "proper" footage recorded as well for the shot I planned. This was over an hour and a half, battery and card weren't even half used:

Hey Erik just wondering what settings you used on the gh2? I've been using the af100 but cant get a satisfactory streaking effect with the headlights, so feel probably best to go with the gh1 i own....

I believe if you change the shutter you should be able to achieve the streaking lights look you are going for. I haven't tried it yet as most of the timelapses I have shot for work have been of buildings with clouds...really exciting....but it pays the bills.
