How can I get video files to be large enough where I can zoom in on it in post?

The T2i creates some very large framed videos...anyways we can encode it so its still large enough in FCP that I can zoom in on it and not have it lose quality?

I have a video file that is of two people talking, but I want to frame it in a way where the 2nd person isnt seen when one person is talking. When I do it the traditional way, it looks decent, but the degradation is visible to the mildly trained eye.

Whenever I do time lapses, I am able to this..but pictures is a whole different game, I understand.

The resolution you're working in has to be less than the video file. If you shot 1080, your project needs to be 720; if you need to zoom in more, 480, and so forth.

That's the great thing about 4k footage, renting the camera for about $500-$700 a day, it gives you so much freedom and magnificent quality. Since even that is probably even out of some budgets (and since the Red seems to be a very complex camera in some aspects), I say that it'd be better just do dialouge shots the old fashioned way.

Thing about 1080p footage these cameras in the best of shots record something around the quality and clarity of a 720p video stretched to 1080p, so its truly best not to degrade the quality even more. If your purpose is just Youtube though, the videos on Youtube are all sized at about 480p as a size in the normal player, so that gives you a bit of freedom there. But just one more thing, if you're thinking about chopping a dialouge scene up to make it look like different shots, you just gotta judge it and make sure it doesn't look too obvious or stale!

I've upresed to 2k anything I want to keep.
I have been able to zoom in to remove items in frame
(boom operator in reflection of a window pane, gaffer tape holding a black window covering etc.)

I do that with cineform.

so with cineform you can take 1080 footage and upres it to 2k? how that is possible is beyond me... but if thats true that is freakin' awesome to know
