How Can I Avoid the "Recording Has Been Stopped" Message? (T2i)

Lately, on some longer takes for documentary style work, I lost an entire take due to this message, but because I wasn't watching the monitor (don't ask) I didn't see it or realize I had lost it until backing up the files. I'm using a class 10 card, and it's not blazing hot where I was working. It happens more often than I'd like, so what am I doing wrong/not doing right?

Do you have the hack applied?

well this is something i have also wondered about. I use a 7d and that's not an issue for me but while messing with a friends t3i, this would happen. And it seemed very sporadic. i didn't know why it was happening.

I know why this happens....

1) Cheap memory cards ( Especially those Lexmark )
2) Cheap Batteries ( Anything other than Canon)
3) Cheap Battery Grip ( Anything other than Canon)

If you have any of the above three, then that's your problem.

interesting. I should check my friends card. I dont mess with anything not recommended for the camera. I can skimp on other things.

Do you have a lot pictures and/or videos on your card? When my memory card starts filling up I start getting that message too.

I'll have to do some tests. It was indeed getting pretty full when it happened. I use either a Transcend 16GB Class 10 or a PNY 8GB Class 10. Neither of those should qualify as "cheap cards".

Always nice to see a few know-it-alls and naysayers still sliming around dvxuser. :)

If it's the 12 minute pause you could install Magic Lantern and have almost continuous recording. Maybe a 2 second gap.
Mind you I would still look at installing Magic Lantern anyway.

Actually, with Magic Lantern you can even record on Class 2 cards (with low bitrate, of course).

If your card is a bit slow, it's usually enough to set the bit rate at 0.9x.

You're here asking for help, if you can't take the Heat get out of the kitchen. I also spoke on more than just memory cards, but Hey I guess it sucks to be you........
