Can other users please share how they are remote controlling their 1DC? Wired and Wireless.

There was no product this time last year, now Camranger and K-circle seems to support it now

Any one else used the Camranger before? Just want to look around before I go and buy the Camranger. K-circle is a bit on the expensive side

Many Thanks

Yeah, I have one of the manfrotto usb controllers. Seems to work fine, although I've never actually used it on a gig.

Maybe this could be something for you: http://www.hypershop.com/Product/iUSBportCAMERA_old/IUSB-CAM.html ? Not sure exactly what you're after, it's just an idea. :)

I haven't used it myself, so you'll have to do your own research on it. I remember I saw a youtube video on it once, might be worth checking out.

Thanks, this is what I used to use for my 5D2 few years back. The problem with 1Dc is that the communication codes in 1DC is slightly different to all other Canon cameras. Even the ones which works with the 1DX will not work with 1DC. Even if most functions work it will not work on the 1DC to start/stop 4K video recording.

I have tested quite a few number of remote for the last 30 months. I bought the Cam-ranger after no one replied my post above. However the wifi remote do not seems to be 100% reliable for my shooting environment at public events, on a few occasion I guess the camera stopped but do not feed back to the remote display( not 100% if it was me not noticing the display change or the system cheating me).

I think I will buy the Manfrotto one next week, since there are not many negative comment for it. and it is quite affordable.
I really want to buy the K-circle from Lock circle but it is a bit expensive at USD800-1500, the manfrotto ones is about USD200-400.

just wondering are there other controllers out in the market that works with 1DC.

I can not confirm that it works with the 1dc, I use them on the 1dx but they released a firmware to address the 1dc, so it should. I updated both of mine, very easy to do. I do not have the deluxe model like being sold above but I have the clamp on models.

So I got the MVR911ECCN (the cheaper, non-deluxe one.) I updated the firmware and it works perfectly with the 1dc. Except 2 things, wondered if those of you with this model or the "deluxe" model could share your experiences:

1. The focus is very choppy, even when i set the speed to very slow, using the focus rocker gently, the lens focuses in increments, choppy as opposed to smooth - does this happen for you guys?

2. The unit is supposedly 100% compatible with both the 1dc and the 5dM2, but the only thing that does NOT work on the 1dc is the autofocus button. Whether I'm rolling or not, when i press AF on the Manfrotto, I hear that engage sound in the lens, but it never moves, the focus does not move. I hooked the same MVR911 to my 5DM2 and the AF worked perfectly. Anyone have this experience? What about the choppy focusing? Is the deluxe model more smooth? I have written to Manfrotto but not yet heard back.

Also Canon 1dc users, PLEASE come share your set-up, your work and your tips/tricks on the new 1dc user blog! All are welcome and we need ideas and contributions! (Yes it's very new and we are trying to post more soon, but we need your help, please join us: https://canon1dcuser.wordpress.com/
