Hour Meter

I just checked my hour meter (dvx100a) and it shows 10 hours when I've only burned through two 63 minute tapes. Yes, it's a brand new camera and no I don't use it to digitize...

When does the meter start counting?

Re: Hour Meter

It also counts the hours for which you might have replayed your recorded tapes. It is a meter of Head Use, whether druing recording or palyback.

Re: Hour Meter

That's what I initially thought (just the head use), but since I don't use the camera for playback I'm stumped.

Re: Hour Meter

in the menu, I to have a noticed what seem's like higher readings I think the camera at the least rounds the number up.

Re: Hour Meter

On my camera I filmed about 50 minutes of footage, and it reads 10H. What the hell is wrong with these cameras?

Re: Hour Meter

Fidel et all,
i made some tests and the result was, that the DVX seems to log
head time as long as the tape is engaged in the tape mechanism,
that means not only when playing or recording but also when in pause mode.

Re: Hour Meter

araujofh - To find the Hour Meter do the following;

1) Hit the menu button
2) Go to "7 Other Functions"
3) Scroll all the way down, it's the last item.

joachim - That must be it because I shot 32 minutes today and the hour meter is now at 12 (+2 hours today)..

Re: Hour Meter

yes indeed.. cause even when your in pause the heads are still rockin and rolling.

But that couldn't possibly be 10 hours. I haven't used the camera that much. So, that is impossible.

That is going something wrong in here.

I think it is a conspiracy of some sort. :D

Re: Hour Meter

Dont fret about the hour meter.. Some cameras that leave the factory can have a few hours on the heads for when they do a quality control check.

Re: Hour Meter

This hour meter is a big deal on ebay let me tell you. I doubt people look at cameras over 100 hours. Because yes it is a scary fact, imagine a camera going through 4 days of continuous shooting. Seems like a scary idea. Anyway i got my baby with 60 hours i feel good.

Re: Hour Meter

i got the ultimate deal.

2200$ for a 25 hour cam, all included accessories, even in their original packing and the original box.
i rule.

Re: Hour Meter

Well I guess I wont be able to get rid of my first DVX then.. Its getting close to 400 hours :)

Re: Hour Meter

400 hours...If your's has lasted 400 hours, I shouldn't be so paranoid with mine...
actually...perhaps that's how you got yours to last so long. ;)

Sure you will! Be positive.

Re: Hour Meter

If you want to talk about getting a deal, i have received dvx100, 60 hours on heads, four batteries (2 longlife) Panasonic Anamorphic adapter plus a filter set of three. All for 2600 shipped via fed ex second day. Did not even mess around ebay for this deal. Many thanks Brian!!!

Re: Hour Meter

If there is no tape in, but the camera is on (I am messing around with some shots), will the meter run for that?
