hotshoe external LCD monitor ?

I just got my new Canon XH-A1s a few days ago (great price by the way, $3280 all inclusive and included (cheap) tripod, UV filter, 7hr extra battery, leather case, etc. But I would like to get some sort of external HD 16:9 lcd monitor put mount on the hotshoe on top of the camcorder. Never done that before. Any product recommendations for such a monitor?

Interesting. Although that website has literally no information about the company, and that is an understatement. What is up with the site, just an odd page with no company info, no estimate of when the product is going to come out, no contact info. ???

EDIT: I signed up on their mailing list, although it looks to me to be a premarketing thing they have going.

Might want to wait for this:

but there are lots of other options out there.

I don't know much about the company, but the product looks nice and I am hoping it will be relatively inexpensive. I'm waiting for more info on it.

How is that monitor powered?

I'd check out the new Marshalls, we don't have them yet, but I got my hands on a pre production model last month and I was very impressed.

You can get it with just composite for fairly cheap, or upgrade to SDI or HDMI (sadly no loop through on SDI or HDMI). MSRP is just over $1,000, but I don't know what the street price is on them yet, I think we're getting some soon. Either way I'd wait for this over an Ikan8000, which in my opinion just does not cut it as an on camera production monitor. Its not a bad monitor for its price point, but simply does not have a feature set I want in an oncamera monitor.

At our rental shop my current favorite is the BTLH80w 8" Monitor from Panasonic. Its pretty amazing, but at ~$2,300 and the need of Anton Bauer batteries it puts it out of the price range of most people. Its built like a rock, though that means it weights as much as a rock as well.

There is also the Nebtek monitors, which I've used and they're quite good. I love the fact that there is no menu navigation, all the options are right there on the buttons available to the user. The quality is good, I still like the BTLH a little bit more, but it can rotate and flip the image, which is a plus if you're using non flip adapters.

I believe there is a DVXUser (USLatinCrew? forgive me if i get the username wrong) who is making his own HD monitor and seems to be getting very positive reviews, I'd search for his posts, it might be a good alternative as well.

For the money I'd go with a new marshall though.

I can confirm that. Got an 8000 last week. Fist impressions are "meh". Yes it is inexpensive and very portable, but it is missing all kinds of features you would find on more expensive monitors. But it does take Canon bats, even though the connection is kind of flimsy, and if it jiggles, you lose power.

The new Marshall you mentioned looks good.

And when you've used a BTLH80w, everything else kind of dulls in comparison. (I think we have one at work, or similar.) It is rock-solid and a great picture.
