I have 2 8gb cards and a macbook pro, along with some external hdd's. are there any suggestions of how i can continously record an event. I think I have to be able to hot swap the cards while keeping them in the camera, because without a p2 store I have nowhere to put the p2 card to download....thanks for the help guys.

You could use FCP, Scopebox, or DV Monitor to record directly to disk. The other option is to get the Duel Systems PCMCIA to ExpressCard adapter -- it's available at an introductory price of $99 right now.

3 cards would be best for hot swapping. If renting an extra is an option, you might try that.

If not, one of Thoff's suggestions would be your next bet. Either don't hot swap and do live capture instead (if you don't have to be mobile).

Or get the adapter (if it will be available and the mac driver will be out by the time you need it) that Thoff mentioned and offload that way. It is the quickest way I know of to offload a card. An 8 gig card typically takes me 4-5 minutes on my pc laptop w/ pcmcia slot.

Or, buy/borrow a pc lappy with a pcmcia slot, and do the same.

Also consider getting P2 Genie.

You can give it a test drive as a fully operational demo. And the price is right. Just over $30!

It greatly simplifies moving multiple partitions from the P2 Store.
