Hot sunny day look?

Does anyone know how to shoot to get that dry hot sunny day look (where its hazy and wavy?)
Is there a way to put the scene files to maximize that look if and when it comes naturally?

also, on a side note, where can I go to see other postings for scene file settings?

thanks

The in-camera looks thread is great, but keep in mind that you can also shoot flat and add the look in post. If you have something like Magic Bullet Looks, you'll have more finite control over the "look" after you've shot. The downside to in-camera looks is that you're pretty much stuck with what you shoot.

I agree. I'm still amazed at what you can do with just something like Vegas if you learn it. I like having a camera that can do so much, too.

Is there a particular way to shoot in the moment (or way to set up the camera) so you can actually see that wavy hazy look of the hot sun? Like zooming in close? or changing one of the settings?

also, what nature conditions cause that look. Like, obviously it needs to be a hot day. But anything more to that? Like does it have to reflect off somthing like a road or do you have to be in a desert like flat area? I have no clue, but I heard there is a specific way. Does having a wide angle lense have anything to do with it? anybody know about this?

thanks again

I worked on a short where they tried to do it with a sterno can in front of the lens. It didn't work because it was too windy I think.

Here's a tutorial on doing it in After Effects.

I think if those settings were tweaked a little bit, and the shot was not so wide, it would look ok. I saved it for myself to reference later in fact.
