Hot shoe locking solutions?

Anyone know of some good hot shoe locking solutions? I've got a 8" lilliput LCD which I've put onto the camera hotshoe using the double-screw hot shoe mounts you can buy on ebay for very very cheap such as this one:

The problem I'm finding is that the weight of the LCD can be a bit of a problem if the bottom screw is not very very tight. I've had three situations where my LCD slid off when I had the camera tilted! :Drogar-BlackEye(DBG Only in one of those situations the LCD fell and landed face flat onto the carpeted floor (thank god!) in the middle of a church ceremony :cheesy:

I'd like to know if some of you have a better hot shoe locking solution. For those of you wondering how the heck I got the LCD to work with my GH13, I didn't... I used my T2i (but I also use GH13). But I suppose with the GH2, this will also be a problem. Especially with an even larger LCD like the 10" one that tester13 suggested.

Hey vitaliy, how's it going? :)
What about if I don't plan to use a rig/cage... just looking for an on-camera hot shoe mount solution

:D I use those cheap little eBay hot shoe adapters as well. My expensive TL50 LED light has fallen off the camera 3+ times....and each time I caught it in my right hand. LUCKY!

I'm surprised I haven't torn the hot shoe off, tightening down the nut so tight. :D

Now, I use a piece of gaffers tape to keep the adapter from loosening up on the camera. Problem solved.

I also have on of those dirt cheap Chinese flash brackets, that you see plastered all over eBay. It's actually very compact and well suited to the GH1. But if you use it for video to add an extra cold shoe(s), just remember to put a tie-wrap or something on it to keep it from "rotating". I think it's like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Flash-Rotate-Br...igital_Camera_Accessories&hash=item3f04babb1a

I also have one of those standard cheap L-brackets that adds a couple of shoes, but it doesn't securely mount to a tripod (IMHO) without modification. And, I still wouldn't trust gear from loosening up and falling out of its shoes.

Good luck!

Hahah thanks. I see that we need a cheap arse solution in order to solve a cheap quality adapter problem. I guess gaffers/duct tape could work. That flash bracket looks like a pretty neat idea but I can already imagine how the whole thing would slide right off to the side once I mount the LCD :)

I see that the flash bracket also has a knob for variable-sized shoe attachments... is tightening this knob actually more secure than using the cheap hot shoe adapter nut?

I'm surprised you use the TL50 LED light with your GH1. I bought one, tested it and was able to get the LED's to cause flicker at all shutter speeds when using the dimmer. Called up tech support and the engineer admitted to the problem since it uses a more battery efficient frequency modulation to dim the light. Same problem with Canon DSLR's. Sold mine and got one of those cheap 126 LED lights with a dimmer and no more flicker. The only way to not have flicker with the TL50 is to have it on full brightness. That light also has some annoying brightness steps in the dimmer. Luckily I bought mine on sale and sold it for more than I paid for it.
