Agreed. How nobody has worked with him before is beyond me. I would have done one of his scripts offered up for WestFest but I didn't have the means to pull them off. Instead I threw him the script for Hostile Destination and asked him to make it better. I was so impressed that I'm hoping to work with him on my Feature. He's uber talented and came up with some fantastic ideas. Pleasure to work with.

Glad you liked the establishing shots as well. Doug blew me away. So much talent around here.

Yeah, honestly I have no idea how you pull off some of your shots without a crew. If you grow an extra arm, you should do a behind the scenes documentary on how you pull it off. :)

I wanted to do one of Russ's as well, but it was beyond my means. I couldn't even afford "Beans" really (note that we had no guns or holsters, I had no hat, and the only wardrobe I bought for myself was suspenders). I definitely hope to work with him in the future.
 
I liked it! Maybe because I am a big fan of sci-fi cyberpunk and postnuclear visuals :)
I hope your film will reach the next round.

I wish. I can't even find a guy to hold the boom pole. Not that I even used one this Fest. All the sound was 100% ADR.
I recorded with the camera mic to help me with the proper placement but nothing was used in the edit. It's 100% ADR and sound design.

Absolutely! I would never ADR without it. I've tried that before, the emotion is usually off and the actor can never get it just right.
In my personal experience anyway. Still, adding every other sound that a sound guy would have picked up on set was a daunting task.

I did record their on set dialogue with the camera though. That made it easy to overlap it with the ADR that was filtered for effect.

Mike...Glad you're receiving good reviews on this film. You deserve it. I'm glad that my first writing credit is attached to something you did, I had no doubt it was going to look pro. Can't thank you enough for all the rpops you've given me.

Loved your movie. I haven't watched the others yet, but they seem to have a challenge beating this one. Stumbled on this thread as I am considering the T2i as well. A friend is saying don't bother, and that his 5D2 is day to the 7D/T2i's night...
 
Thanks. I really appreciate that. There are some really great films in this Fest though.

As for the 5D II, is it not more than twice the price of the T2i? I have no experience with it but I would assume that from the price alone that it should be better. Not sure by how much though and whether that amount is worth the extra $.

5DII is 3 times the price as the T2i.

T2i - $800 (almost identical video as 7D, but light and plastic-y)
7D - $1600 (weatherproof, rugged, more features then the T2i)
5D - $2300 (the bomb diggity - Full frame sensor = huge movie resolution)

Canon lenses are interchangeable for T2i and 7D, 5DII uses different lenses.

As a T2i owner, I am more than satisfied, the money I saved went to solid lenses.

I have never ADR'ed anything in my life. I just can't pull it off without it sounding like ADR. So I do my best to get it right on set. and most of the time we get it right.

Dude I really did not know that you actually DO EVERYTHING on set yourself. that is effing crazy!

I run with 5 people and I thought that was insanely small.

Kudos for that MAH. if there was an 11th star I would give it to you.
