GH2 Holy sweetness... has anybody else tried out FilmConvert?

What does someone creating a narrative feature film have to do with credibility? There are tons of people who have no desire to do that. They work in other aspects of media or film. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves there's a world outside our little reality and we're just a spec in it.
It's too easy to be a keyboard critic. I will say that Philip has an amazing eye for photography. He doesn't need to shoot a narrative as his images speak for themselves. You can't just "Justin Bieber" him. Meaning, take someone with talent and hate because you don't like his style and success. Same with Laforet. Amazing photographer. Just look at his stills. Both of them have taken advantage of social marketing and it's worked for each of them. If Laforet had not posted about this program/plug-in, we would most likely not be discussing it here on DVXuser. What's next, picking on them for using the tip jar on Vimeo?

In essence, stop being a turd because people have found success in their careers.

Meanwhile; FilmConvert is still pretty amazing.

Can someone try running a film stock on outdoor footage (lots of organic material, trees, or grass)? It just does not seem to work in those situations for me.

This was the first test I did with it. Not the greatest material in the world, and I actually ran it again on the same footage last night... looks incredible. But here, I didn't really adjust anything at all, just slapped on a fuji preset to see what it did. Overall, I even still enjoy the look of the preset without adjusting curves or doing anything else. But in reality, for a serious video I'd probably do a ton of minor adjustments here and there.

[Black Swan] “I watched around 15min of that movie before I called it quits. It doesn't matter what camera/format a movie is shot with if the viewer is not entertained.”

Yeah that Academy, what do they know about anything? And that Aronofsky wanker, where’d they find him? Why do they have to make movies about stuff, and all artsy fartsy?

“One of the big complaints I had about Prometheus was that it was too clean and surgical looking.”

Hated every minute of it. The look can’t compare to the glorious 35mm of Alien, and Aliens. Prometheus is a completely flat, unconvincing world. There’s no sweat. There’s no texture. A miserable, hollow failure of a sequel. Don’t even get me started on the story.

“I love the Epic but I think the imagery in that film wasn't served as well with a squeaky clean image as it would have with more texture.”

In what movie do you “love” the Epic? I remain skeptical that camera can deliver decent colors at all (until upgraded with a Dragon sensor perhaps).

“Would The Walking Dead not be as entertaining if it was shot on 35mm or on a Red Epic?”

No.

And that’s seriously the wrong metric. Why is everything distilled down into this contemptible word “entertaining?” So banal.

As for FilmConvert, as long as there's no PC version, that answers that.

How are render times? Any examples out of Premiere with and without?

I'm going to have to give this a try.

The motion is wrong compared to film. It just doesn't move like film. That said, you did good youself and the colors are pleasing.

I tried it out. It looks useful if you needed the look which the plugin provides. And I suppose if you needed the grain look as well. But for $235, unless I'm a pro using this all the time, I think the money can be spent elsewhere.

I was able to play a 1080p clip with the effect(s) applied, almost in realtime in Premiere CS5.5. Video screen size in Premiere was 1/3 of the original at full quality.

in any domain, provide people with sliders they can use to modify anything and most will say "Wow, that's great".
We are children who like to play with things, even if it makes them worse, because we will say it is better because we brought some change to it.
unfortunately this is a capitalist behavior that allow us to posses thing just because we believe we get some control of it afterward.
the real artist is doing the same before it happens and creates the masterpiece the way he has seen it.
That is why the industry of plugins and stuff in the like has a bright future, and real creation is declining, because we are too much consumers, and not enough creators.

Ok, forgive me for such ignorance on Bloom and Vincent contribution. That was not my main intention but what the heck right?

Anyway, this is another sample from a user for the software with GH2. https://vimeo.com/50428641

I think this software will definitely find its backers and fans in less than 6 months from now to be competitive in the market of Magic Bullet. I am buying it now as I have Canon 60D and love the results so far.

I don't know if this was posted or discussed somewhere, but I just got an exciting news for After effects plugin users from FilmConvert: Histogram and three way color corrector will be added as a free upgrade sometime November!
