Holy Smokes! (Short Film)

not a fan of the script and acting was a bit iffy...however i do really like the look of it. shots were nice. Cinematography on a whole was nice :)

Can u tell us more about the colour grading and what settings used to make it look like this. Really does look nice.

really liked the look/feel of the film but the audio made it so i coudnet fall into the film if you know what i mean.
shots and directing was good though, and some acting was clearly fake.

overall i really liked

The problem is, they're theater actors, and this was so run and gun they didn't even have time to read the script, they just read it as they went. I didn't direct this, I lit it and directed the photography/ operated the camera. Anyone care to elaborate more on the audio? Was it just the uncontinuity of the audio from cutting from one shot to the other, or was it just the overall audio. Can you guys please be more specific? I'm trying to get ideas/feedback as fast as possible. thanks!

Funny, and nice look.
Nice light in the hostage scene.

As far as the audio, I hear pops on some cuts. Can you do audio dissolves/transitions at the cuts? This would get rid of the pops and softenand smooth out the lack of audio continuity (like when you don't hear a car, then hear a car).

Could be tightened up a little? Maybe some overlapping edits: audio before video.
Unless you like a loose feel for the "loser criminals".

Nice job though, and really nice look.

as far as the audio goes
it got me mad how every cut the audio changed and there was different background sounds. just record on the street, then get them to do it all post. and by that i mean have them do voice overs into a mic

but won't the voice overs be out of sync then?

good call. i'll keep that in mind next time. keep in mind this was just a random shoot we decided to do out of nowhere. i didnt have a shotlist or storyboard or anything, so kind of bear with it haha. yes the audio when cutting really got me as well. maybe i'll try to fix it.

I actually liked it a lot.
the acting kinda fitted in the story and made it funny.
one question, why do you have so much vignetting? it doesn't look like you used an adapter so did you added in post?
