Holy crap!!!

Re: Holy crap!!!

so the lion king- finding NEMO, star wars episodes 1-3, collateral, once upon a time in mexico, ECT.... are you asying those arent films either. isnt the term film used synonomously with "motion picture" some FILMS like the ones above werent shot on film at all..but were released on film.. and some FILMS were shot on film, and only released on video. does it matter? does it matter that the digital interference films were shot on digital video, and have not been shown on film yet.. cause if they were transferred to but never shown on film some where some day, would the web copy all of a sudden be a film.. and if i bought it on DVD directly transferred from the digital copy.. after it was shown on film.. would it then be a FILM? even though the digital copy was exactly the same before it was shown on film. and if i watch a film released straight to DVD in which part of it is digital is it a film/video? ..
???

Re: Holy crap!!!

Not to be cynical, but I gotten the videomaker or digitalmaker correction many times before. Usually it's from people who really don't know much about the process. It's kinda pointless to argue about trivial semantics. It's like criticizing someone's terminology when they refer to their "reel" which is actually a DVD or a 3/4" tape, as opposed to the old-school 1-inch or 2-inch tape, or a film reel. That would just be dumb.

Digital is not film and making a digital video and making a film are 2 different things. Put the filters on your digital videos. It's nothing compared to the real deal. And im not saying those videos are not good, there really amazing but not filmmakers.[/quote]

Absurd. IT's almost funny.

Re: Holy crap!!!

Jon Wolf,
as I was reading your comment, I couldn't help but shake my head because of your retarded statement. Its a sorry excuse that you can't do anything better mr. "film maker". I usually dont spend time my time crying about how "amazing" Matt Mcdermitt is, but I really have to stick up for him on what you said because that was just absurd. I've never shot a movie on FILM but don't tell me I dont have a passion to make movies either when I've been making movies since i was seven. im still shaking my head... :-/

Re: Holy crap!!!

Yes. We are watching this. Still, it was an absurd take.

sampotter and ial have more or less said what has needed to be said.

Re: Holy crap!!!

So sad...

But, just because I couldn't help myself....

the term you're searching for is...ready...

Videographer,

From Videography: the practice or art of recording images with a video camera
- vid·e·og·ra·pher  /-f&r/ noun.

Apparently there are no other film school (yes, film) graduates here.

Re: Holy crap!!!

Or you could take Billy Bob Thorton's take on the term "filmmaking". He said once that he refuses to be called a "filmmaker" because he doesn't make film, that's what Kodak does.

I just can't get past the little voice in my head saying "Free your mind and your ass will follow". It screws up the video for me.

It's all Clinton's fault, of course.

Re: Holy crap!!!

They're young but they know their stuff. Those are some of the best shots I've seen with prosumer equipment. A few times I asked myself, "How did they do that?" And I wish I could edit that well when I was 21. But alas their youth is evident in each of their videos. There's no real content or character or style. That comes with age. But WOW!!! How did they do that??? :-)
