C100: Holding down "Display" turns on luminance on the C100 Mark II

I've been meaning to post this topic for awhile and don't recall seeing this mentioned on DVXuser before. I had the C100 Mark II for a good couple years or so before someone showed me that holding down "Display" turns on luminance (additional brightness) on the C100 Mark II.

Each time you turn the C100 Mark II off, luminance automatically turns off. This can be a pain, though it can also be useful in case you forget it's on. If you judge exposure by the LCD image rather than purely from waveform and zebras, luminance being absentmindedly left on in a dark environment can mess you up on exposure. So, it's nice that there's an option to relatively quickly turn it on and off.

You have to hold it down for a good three seconds, but that's still quicker than digging into the menus to do so. There is no way to assign a button to luminance, so holding down "Display" is the quickest way to turn it on or off.

Anyway, that's all.

This public service announcement has been brought to you by Eric Coughlin.

There actually is. But, it will only take you to the function. From there, ON/OFF must be selected with the joystick.
You mean you can assign the OLED menu to a button? I saw that, but then you have to scroll down to Luminance, and turn it on or off, which still takes longer than holding down "Display."

For those of us with dinosaur C300/C100 MKIs, what is luminance? I've shot with C100 MKIIs but I don't know what that is? Just brightness level up and down or some sort of other one touch thing? Or is it some secret OLED sauce?

Nope, Luminance is selectable in the "blue". It would be two-step as I mentioned as the assigned button would only get you into the function. From there, it's a Y or N selection. I assigned the PLAY button for this awhile ago.

ASSIGNABLE BUTTON>1(for example)>USER SETTING>OLED SETUP>LUMINANCE

It is similar to the backlight on/off command for the C100/I's LCD. Back in the day, the great Paul Frederick advocated turning it on to better jude exposure via the LCD. Anyone know what happened to Paul BTW? I used to love his WIDE PF profile on the C100/I.
