HMC45 and Steadicam Merlin: any settings?

Hi all,

first of all, I hope this question hasn't been discussed before. I tried to search the forums, but always end up with an error message. My apologizes if a similar topic previously exists.

I'm scratching my head for the last 5 days, trying to find the correct settings for the Steadicam Merlin to be used with the HMC45. So far, I failed.

I checked the manufacturer website. There are tons of users supplied settings, but none for the HMC...

Would anyone happen to have successfully set-up the Merlin, and achieved smooth operation with the HMC40/41/45?
For reference, I'm using it with the supplied VW-VBG260 battery.
With or without the AG-MYA30G, no big deal.

Big thanks to the one(s) who'll remove that thorn in my side.

I'd like to have these settings too.. But if they're not available you will have to balance the camera from scratch, which the manual tells you how to do.
 
It can be initially frustrating.

I recommend everyone learn the "balancing from scratch" procedure regardless of if their camera's settings are in the Merlin Cookbook. You never know when you are faced with a strange set up; and knowing how to properly use the tool will give you much better creative freedom.

As said, it can be a little frustrating at first; but I recommend keeping trying it. Watch the DVD; read the book. Then take a break, and try again. After a few practice sessions; you should have a pretty good handle on it.
