BEFORE you jump in and purchase a lot of equipment, please spend some time reading this forum and seeing what others say. Also, VideoMaker does sell a number of books that will prove helpful in learning the basics:

They also sell Instructional Videos.

There's more to shooting good video than just getting a good camera; you have to know how to use the camera correctly. The VideoMaker books and Videos will help you learn the basics. This forum can help you learn the issues we are dealing with.

Last, but not least, Barry Green has written a book on the HMC-150. I do not have the book, but I hear from those who have it, the book is very helpful.

well, I opened the HMC40 box agter 4 day, . took out the camera. I never had any camera that cost over $500.00, so unlike those who say it is ugly, I think it looks perfect for my needs. Looks professional to the laymen. I read the instructions. Set it up on tripod, charged battery. Oh No , no SD card. It doesnt arrive for a week from amazon.(Transend- 2 32 GB class 6)
Well, I will just keep looking at it till the card arrives. Once I held it and got all the feedback from everyone, I feel this is the right camera for my well lit one on one iterviews and daytime shots.

If you've never had a camera over $500 then the HMC40 sounds like a great choice to get the feel of a more professional camera. It'll be a good learning tool that shoots wonderful video under the right conditions.

You still won't look as pro as Marty McFly.
