HMC40 and gain limit?

Is there a way to limit the gain on the HMC40 so it doesn't auto gain up super high?

I'm asking because I have an AG HCK10 which is a mini camera with the same chips as the HMC40. In low(ish) light it will frequently gain up to like 32db which results in an unusable picture whereas if I could stop it at ~18 or 21 I can fix it in post and it looks ok. I have found no button or menu option to set a limit, so I just watch closely and when I see it gain up and the picture go to garbage, I zoom out or move it until it gains down to a usable level.

Since the exposure and gain are wrapped into one thingy control, why not just set for manual control. Skip the auto settings altogether.

On a similar topic:
Can't say about the HCK10, but when there is too much light, there isn't enough ND. If you go past f/8, your image will suffer, a bunch. Always think in terms of having ND filters available.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately the menu setup must be different between the hmc40 and hck10. I don't see how it can be set.

On the other note. Yeah, I've shot in bright daylight and had to raise the shutter before because there wasn't enough ND.

I think I've looked through every menu option.
The iris, focus and WB can be set to manual via menu but I see no gain control at all.
