hi all im looking to upgrade my sony fx1 to an hmc150. have about 2200 and dont have enough to buy one new. i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get one for around this price or someone sell me a used one?

Go to the MarketPlace forum lower on the page right here at DVXUser.... You may find one which works for you from a fellow forum user.

You will have to look around for a while to find one under $2500 but that should give you some time to save a little more $$. They have a solid resale value.

Which is actually a GREAT thing because I eventually plan to pick one up, as well as a Sony NX5U, to compliment my AG-HMC40.

Does the HMC40 hold a solid resale / retail value as well?

One has to understand that the HMC150 doesn't have a moving recording mechanism So wear n' tear is much less a factor vs older tape based system. I'm selling an almost new HMC + accessories for $3400 in the marketplace.

I have to agree. I have an HMC150 with 200 hours on it. It seems the leftover evaluation mentality from machines with tape decks will be with us for a while. I have decided that I will probably keep mine rather than sell it because it is a great camera and regardless of the hours still has many more shoots left in it.
Since we are in the middle HD DSLR bonanza you might find a camera cheap with "Low Hours" from seller who wants to make the change. But with the AF-100 coming soon you may find more HMC150's available in the late fall.
Good luck it is an amazing camera.

I personally have an HMC40 and eventually I wanna make the jump to either than HMC150 or the new Sony NX5U. The HMC is an industry workhorse and has a GREAT following but those new Sony NX5U cams for a few hundred more definitely are enticing. I hear people are still selling the HMC40 for close to $1600 - $1800 without the XLR adapter so they are holding their values well too.

Always try to sell provately because almost every retail store will only offer you maybe 50% of it's retail value while a private person will offer anywhere between 70-80%.
