I'm quite certain this has been talked about, but i can't find it. We own an hmc150 and we are ponding the idea of cutting it with a dvcpro hd p2. i'm not sure what the model is. but is this possible? I know the resolution is different, but would they look anything alike if cut together?

Thanks,
matthew

If it's an HPX170 or HVX200A, they'll look very much alike. If it's an HPX3700, then ... not so much. So it depends on what the particular model is that you're considering intercutting with.

I posted comparison in the screen grabs/footage forum that showed two stills grabbed from a 150 and a 170 side by side.

It was early last year, so you will have to search for it. They looked remarkably similar.

I didn't find the encodes to SD DVD from the 150 to look as good or clean as the 170, however.

But it may have been the subject matter.

Remember as well that you can use the free, but Windows only, AVCHD to DVCProHD converter to create a p2 folder from the 150 and bring that into a DVCProHD timeline.

thanks alot. i looked at the screengrabs, they look pretty identical to me. so not with the hpx370 and anything up from there like the hpx500, i'm assuming?

Why Bother getting P2 you can shoot with HMC150 then transcode using the free Mainconcept transcoder to P2 files. both camera using the same lens unless you are thinking of green screen and you need better codec orginal.
