HMC150 vs XHA1?

6mbps is below HDV quality, but according to Sony 9mbps of AVC-HD matches 25mbps of HDV for quality.

The 150 doesn't offer a 9mbps mode so we couldn't use that as an example. But the general point was that there was an idea that only tape was viable for long-form events, and that's simply no longer the case.

Why do you think sustained video would be unreliable on a memory card? Especially at a miniscule 6mbps or 9mbps rate?

1. I'm not convinced that 9 Mbp/s AVC-HD equals 25 Mbp/s HDV.
2. The same reason why photographers use the better 4 Gb and up SD cards, the cheap ones are unreliable. Slow, data loss, not able to work with temp differences. Even one of these problems is a reason for not using them.

If I was shooting a long-form event on a memory card, I would use the highest datarate available. And if I can shoot for 1 hour on a memorycard in the highest quality the camera can deliver, and only pay $5, point even is there.
