HMC150 Second Camera with an HVX200

I am excited to announce my HMC150 will be arriving in the mail tomorrow. YEAH!

I wanted to know if anyone is using the HMC150 as a second camera with an HVX200. I am shooting a few projects this month and I know the second camera will be an HVX200.

Has anyone been successful using these two cameras together?

What other factors should I take into consideration when shooting with the HMC150 and the HVX200?

You should be fine. I shot a music video a few weeks ago. I used my HMC150 and the other person on camera had the original HVX200. The footage looked the same and it cut together very well.

What will you be using to edit with? I used Final Cut Pro and I set the sequence up for ProRes since the HMC was the main camera and just rendered in the HVX footage.

Shot a web series pilot mainly with the HVX, then pickup shots with the HMC. Cuts together great. Helps that you can transcode the HMC footage to DVCPRO.
We didn't have the camera settings (scene file stuff) matched up, but I only had to do a little contrast adjustment on a few shots in post.

No, it's the other way around. Vegas don't support p2's dvcpro hd without a plugin (raylight), but it supports AVCHD natively (though a transcode to an intermediate helps speed up editing). Either way, vegas isn't picky about having different formats on the timeline.

if it's the original HVX200, just realize that it's a much slower camera so you'll have to compensate somewhat between the two cameras in terms of exposure, but you'll be fine if you match them to an external monitor and with scene files. I have done a lot of this shooting until I sold the HVX.. and haven't looked back a single day. The HVX was a good bridge to the 150, but shooting proprietary media is something that I hope to never have to do again. it's been so liberating to shoot on SD cards, and something I've done without a single failure or problem.. just like with P2 but at a greatly reduced price....

One thing though.. I think that the HVX has a more forgiving audio system so I'd say to record your audio to the HVX and you'll have the best of all worlds.

Audio, hmmm. So would you say that the 150 might stand a Sound Devices field mixer, or in lieu of that, their recorder with TC? Is anyone here using their recorder with TC and the 150?
