HMC150 on camera light / battery options

Darn well I might just go head and get one anyway especially if its going to take two weeks! Either way I am going to come out cheaper than buying the MICRO.

Well... if you are thinking about spending $300 for a good light might as well go with the comer 900... choose it any day over the LP micro (and most likely over this thing too).

I did a concert not too long ago, and almost all the shooters had LED lights!.. a guy tried to be an ass and put his light against our lens while doing an interview, I just turned the dimmer up on my comer 1800 and he ran away. That light is awesome... only wished it came with the extension cable to mount the battery somewhere else, I usually use it on a light stand and have to bring the light down when the battery runs down. even if they sold it as an extra!

SO, light came in today... so Ill give my first impressions just running around the house for a few minutes.

This light reminds me so much of the LP Micro. It comes with a few battery connecting plates and 1 clear and 1 amber diffuser with a diffuser case... The brightness is dimmable, and effective at that. Smooth range from 10%ish to 100%. The beam of light is rather focused giving it more of a spot type look, I added the clear diffuser and am pretty pleased with the results. When adding the amber, it seems to loose quite a bit of brightness and seems toooo amber.

Compared to the COMER - You get what you pay for. Comer has a warmer beam, much wider and brighter...

seems equivalent performance to the Micro, but at a much lower price, which is a great reason to buy it if you need something, but can't afford to get the right tool, the Comer.

BTW I would say this is 30% larger than the LP Micro though, its a pretty big light honestly.

Hey Thomas, I would say I prefer the comer for a bunch of reasons.
- You usually don't need to gel or diffuse a comer, its warmer naturally - if you do it built into the barn door.
- that gives you much more light available
- The comer light beam is much wider and more consistent throughout its range.
- 5 LED's vs 126LED's - who knows power consumption difference.
- The 126 wins with the variable dimmer, comer 900 just has a hi/low.

And that's just comparing the Comer 900 vs this 126... 1800 isnt even in the same league...

Few weeks ago I worked with a photographer at a wedding. He mounted 2 to 3 those Sima light on his camera as it was an outdoor wedding that was very dark. I lend him a Comer 900 to try. He instantly fell in love with it as he doesn't have to turn on flash at all.

This 126led is going to be my backup... Its worth the extra $30 over the small stuff imo.

But pretty soon my comer 900 will be the backup for the 1800... cant wait.

I rather have a few very good battery lights, over finding plugs and running cables. Although you cant use these for everything.

Update on the 126...

The shoe mount is very flimsy - this would be terrible if you are moving quickly, the light bounces all around.

I'll use it on a light stand, all ready had some pretty good results.

I just did another event with the Comer 1800 on 2 different cameras and I was reminded how nice it was. It puts out such even light that you cannot tell it is an on camera light. Money well spent.

Anyone can compare the Comer 900 to Vidled in terms of brightness (and anything else u want to add)? Also does the colour temp of 4500k pose a prob for u guys trying to match it with standard video colour temps (5600 and 3200)? I'm interested in the Comer but would want to have a comparison to help me out.

haha... i know the feeling. I also want to thank Taky for his great costumer support!

I almost feel like getting 2 1800's and putting them on my car for headlights. I'm tired of my stupid light bulbs dying on it all the time :violin:
