HMC150/HVX200 combined workflow

I'm working on a project which so far has been shot with an HVX200 at 720 30p, alot of it with a Redrock. In May we shoot in South Africa, very run & gun, shooting lots of footage, so we're going with HMC150s for weight, ease, and the SD cards. So does anyone have experience mixing these when we're ready to post? Can we convert the DVC PRO HD stuff to ProRes and cut it in a ProRes timeline, or will the DVC PRO stuff suffer if we do? Any thoughts?

You could run all of your dvcpro hd 720/30 footage through compressor to prores 422, and then when you bring your avc cam 720/30 it will automatically transcode to prores and then you will be good to go.

You don't necessarly have to convert the dvcpro to prores, as the latest FCP will allow you to mix and match codecs within a timeline. Although you might lose RT editing cababilies depending on your system specs though.

I mix HVX footage and 150 footage without any problems on the same timeline even. You can do the conversions and all of that, but I think it's easy enough to pick whichever you want a set preset to be and then go with it. Sure you might have a bit of slow down, and possibly some rendering but it's easy and if your comp is fast enough, you should be able to rock it out. I'm doing mine on an older box and it still handles it pretty well. Thats one of the coolest things about the open timeline on the new FCP.

that should work very well. That's pretty much waht I did and also had some in dvcpro50 timeline
