HMC150 & FCE Troubles Help

I just got my HMC150 and loaded some footage I shot @720/30p into Final Cut Express and all of the footage plays back as if someone has sped it up. I have tried exporting the footage as DV and it still looks sped up. The footage looks great when played back on the camera. Any suggestions???

Thanks Alan

Running FCE 4.01 Mac Book Core Duo 2ghz 10.6 all updates done - 2gigs of ram - I am using the apple intermediate codec.

Also no Perian - I actually installed FCE because I didn't know I could run FCP2 on a old mac book - I have it installed on my PowerMac G5 and will try and load it onto the MacBook to see what happens. But if any one has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. So far I have been blown away by the low light performance of this beast.

Thanks Alan

Hey sublimesnfu,

FCE can't handle the 720 through log an transfer...I'm using FCE (latest version) and had to get Toast 9 to convert the 720 into AIC prior to importing into FCE. Also(this is crucial) , if you get a copy of toast 9, don't update it once you've installed(ignore the prompt that says updates are available). If you update Toast 9, it will not convert the footage correctly and you will have the same sped up issue. Good Luck!

Ah, that would make sense as all the footage it has imported looks sped up. seems kinda wierd that apples states on there web page that FCE can handle 720p but then again wouldn't suprise. I will load my copy of Final Cut Pro 2 on shortly now that I know I can squeak by on it until I pick up a new intel mac.

Yep - seems like Final Cut Express isn't meant to mate with the HMC150 :-( - Thanks fully FCP2 will run on my old busted up Macbook.
